Diana

Diana, I feel you walking
     always by my side.
I hear you in the autumn wind
     calling far and side,
"Come follow me!"

I share your loving company
     in everything I do.
I feel you ever closer now,
     since the day that you
passed away.

Diana, how many times I've dreamed
     of walking hand in hand,
Of answering your trusting smile.
     Please, help me understand,
my only child.

But now I look upon your lips
     that no more kisses bring,
your sightless eyes, little silent feet
that will never kick the sand
nor run again.

Diana, I'm so sorry,
to think that you were so new.
You'll never know what life can hold,
The joys that just the two
could know.

And when I think of all the times
I longed for us to share,
I feel deep in my darkened heart
     that life's game isn't fair,
my little one.

My daughter you must help me now,
     as only you can do.
Your father stands alone in life,
but we can pull him through...
together.
